Abdel Laaouaouda, Energy Transactions Engineer (Electrical Engineer)

Abdel joined FirstEnergy in 2016 following a co-op at the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport, Pa. In his role in Transmission Operations, he focuses on reporting energy interchange between FirstEnergy operating companies as well as other utilities and generators in the PJM footprint.

Bal Timsina, System Modeling Engineer (Electrical Engineer)

Bal started his career working for the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO) before relocating to Akron, Ohio, to work for FirstEnergy. In his role in our Transmission Planning & Protection group, he responsible for modeling changes that occur throughout the electric system.

Amanda Turner, Transmission Portfolio Management Engineer (Civil Engineer)

In her role with the company’s Portfolio Development Team, Amanda identifies and prioritizes FirstEnergy’s capital distribution and transmission projects, with a special focus on active transmission projects and the management of the projects’ finances, scopes and in-service dates. Her work helps to ensure the active portfolios remain on budget and on schedule.

Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers in 1951, National Engineers Week is held each February to promote careers in engineering and technology in an effort to develop a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce. Students interested in engineering are encouraged to pursue internships or co-op opportunities to receive hands-on experience, develop their professional skills and gain a better sense of the career paths that align with their personal strengths and interests.
